Sturt Lions is the new home for Women's and Girls Football, growing from 9 players in 2019 to 150 players in 2023.
After a successful season, our 2023 Women's State League Team won the league and has been promoted to WNPL for season 2024. Having a WNPL and WNPL Reserves team provides our Juniors and MiniRoos a pathway to senior football.
Playing a team sport is a great place for women and girls to meet new friends, have fun, and keep active. It also teaches confidence, goal-setting, leadership, teamwork, and resilience.
There has never been a better time to be a part of Women's and Girls Football, with the Matilda's success at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, and over 20 Australian women playing in Europe. For the first time, girls can dream and strive to play football professionally.
In season 2024, we continue with our commitment to developing our female players to be their best footballer with our Girls Summer Training, Young Lioness Program, and Goalkeeper Training. All of these initiatives are run at no cost - to help remove the barriers to playing football.
